Suggestions please Annecy to South France

Intending to do Calais to Annecy area and have a week or so May time, then a few weeks in the south. Can anyone suggest sites Annecy then Grasse area, or any sites near beach in Nice area. Route looks quite straightforward. We are both retired and just like
to see the areas staying on good sites. Appreciate your comments.
