Hi, everyone. Just been looking through the C.C. Venture abroad brochure, and am very tempted by the Indigo Vallouise campsite, M17 in the brochure. We've been to the Alpes many times, most recently staying at Venosc. Vallouise looks a bit tricky to tow
to though, I really don't fancy the route over the Lautaret.

We have a Swift Conqueror 480, a 2 berth, and tow with a R.R. Evoque. We are retired, so have plenty of time to get there and back.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have towed over many Alpine passes,  but the Lautaret Pass was never particularly easy - not because of the gradient, but because the tunnels on the way up from Bourg d'Oisans were narrow, dark and unlit. Then last year one of them collapsed and the road was closed entirely for much of the year.

The French have built a temporary road on the other side of  the Chambon lake to by pass the blocked tunnel. Ask Club HQ to get up to date information for you about using that road with a caravan. If it's not suitable then you will have to go the long way round. Time to get the maps out!

Many thanks, Eurotraveller, Yes, I've had the maps out, I really love travel planning.

I assume the site wouldn't feature in the CC travel brochure if it was very difficult to get to, and the "long way round" looks very interesting anyway.

If you do go over the pass - specially on a sunny day - do spend a couple of hours at the stunning Alpine garden right at the top. Such views.
