VW Sharan towbar fitting

I am in the process of trying to get a towbar fitted to my 2011 Sharan, what a nightmare!

My Volkswagen dealership can't fit it at the moment due to a product recall on the compatable towbar. They also can't provide any info as to when it will be fixed.

I have found an independant towbar fitter who will do the job who advised me that after the towbar was fitted the car would require Volkswagen to perform a software system download to re-configure the cars electrics for towing.

When I told my dealership this they said that it may affect the warranty of the cars electrics.

I am completely new to all this, has anyone had any similar experiences to this?
