Selfish Pitching.... Or Is It Just Me ?

We've just got back from an excellent club site in Scotland and had a lovely long pitch, on the front row, close to the beach.

On our arrival, there was a caravan pitched second from the end and the last pitch was empty.

On a walk back from the beach, I noticed that the caravan had a full awning attached and a tall windbreak that was set up to intrude very close to the last pitch and I saw several new arrivals drive up to the last pitch, before setting up elsewhere.

Halfway through our stay, the caravanners moved off and it was then that I realised that from the faded grass footprint, that they'd had a tent set up behind the windbreak.

SET UP = Car - Caravan - Awning - Tent

I did wonder if they'd paid for the double pitch !

The next arrivals had an even more interesting set up, that also encroached on to the last pitch.

SET UP = Boat on Trailer - Caravan - Awning - Tow Car

I know this party had not paid for the double pitch, as despite several more new arrivals driving away from the pitch, someone eventually pitched a caravan alongside them and because they didn't have an awning, they left their tow vehicle where the
awning would go, leaving room for the neighbour's set up.

This may have been by mutual consent, but I couldn't see why on such long pitches, the boat owner could not have kept his tow car in front of his boat trailer and maintained setup protocol.
