Downsizing - what are the benefits?

Downsizing is supposed to be the trend these days, reflecting I assume the cleverness of the designers in packing more comforts into less space so that you can have a comfortable motorhome but in a narrower and perhaps also a shorter vehicle.  Easier to store at home and easier to get on to car parks I suppose.

Hymer for example are selling twin single bed layouts in their Exsis-t range which ten years ago were only just appearing in their top of the range S Class.

What do you see as the advantages of downsizing in motorhomes?
