Annecy with a caravan ....

Hi, We are currently planning our first holiday to france with our caravan and would love to go to Annecy. I went to a site on the bank of the lake as a child and would like to return to this site. However, from looking at the maps it looks as though I would
need to take the caravan through the centre of Annecy. Can anyone offer some advice on this town, which routes to advoid/take please?
