Using mains electricity

Hi all,could someone please explain to me the difference in using 6amp and 10amp mains electricity.I am not a big user of electricity,my kettle is gas,do not have a tv/satellite,use a small fan heater for warmth and have about 4 mains lights.Also I would
like advice on portable generators,which make to buy and what to look for.Thanks,Paul.
