Navigating around/through Rouen?

When I have travelled north & south along the motorways in a car we have always gone straight through the centre of Rouen and onto the A28 going north.

In a motorhome I am not sure I would want togo that route through the centre of the city because of the busy roads. What route do others take from the A28 going south to Chatres to avoid the tolls and still go via Rouen? Regards, Roy
