Ok, I know this has probably been done to death over the years but just have a specific question for my caravan. Having done a bit of reading it seems there are various percentage limits being banded about, i.e. 4,5 and 7% of MTPLM. Not sure which limit
I should be working to (think 4%) but could do with some advice / help. My specifics are twin axle van MTPLM of 1695kg which I'm looking at theory of the following nose weigths 68kg=4.01%, 70kg=4.12%, 75kg=4.42%, 85kg=5.01%, 100kg=5.89%, 110kg=6.48%, 120kg=
7.07% now I know the nose weigth of my C Class states 75kg so am I correct in thinking this is the max I can load the nose weight to even though this works out at 4.42%? is that legal? I'm thinking you should always load to the max nose weight to increase
the stability? Also my car kerb weight is 1560kg with a gross vehilce weight of 2045kg so I'm thinking the nett payload of the car will be 485kg but that has to take into account the weigh of the towbar, all occupants and any luggage we may take. Is it always
better to load the car to the max GVW to provide better stability for the caravan or would you keep it under? I'm lucky enough to have a weighbridge at my work so I can play about with both the car and caravan gross weigths to ensure I comlpy. Any advice or
experience would be most welcome. Oh and before anyone states I am aware I'm over the recommended on kerb weigth but have an LGV licence and well experienced in pulling trailers and reversing, many thanks in advance, Stephen.
