Advice please-touring to Annecy with children

Hi

Looking for some advice please! First time touring abroad. Travelling (hopefully!) from calais to Annecy with a 10 year old and 5 year old. Should arrive in calais at 9 am. Is it possible to do in one stretch or should we plan an overnight stop?  If so,
any recommendations of where to stop, we would like to do as much of the driving on first day as possible.

Also, peoples opinions on changing route to hull-zebrugge....... Worthwhile? Cost is a massive £500 extra but i am very worried about situation dover/calais. Not travelling for another 3 weeks.
