Rejecting a Caravan

Has anyone ever rejected a caravan and, if so, how long did the process take?

As a new caravan ownder, I was sold a used caravan by a local dealer who used to have an excellent reputation (going downhill now since changing hands). All sorts of promises were made, complete with warranty.

I started getting suspicious that things were not as they were meant to be, what with the problems that were arising, so put it in to another dealer to be serviced and checked out, particularly as I had been unable to get my telephone calls and emails answered
by the original dealer. I also notified the finance company of the problems.

It now appears that the caravan is unfit for purpose, being riddled with up to 99% damp in some places, complete with fungus hiding in places. Various dangerous bits of electric and gas fittings were made safe and dangerous tyres were replaced to a cost
of around £500. The new dealer has taken photographs and is sending a report to the finance company who were very quick off the mark once I reported the problems.

The finance company tell me that the new dealer have told them that the caravan was totally unsuitable for sale; I also understand from them that they have to sort this out within 56 working days or they can be reported to the Ombudsman. I'm also thinking
of giving my council colleagues in Trading Standards a heads up about this shower of rogues at the original dealership.

I'd be very grateful for any advice or whatever from people who have gone through this.
