Using LPG

I have just been reminded that LPG is a mixture of Propane and Butane. I think that the proportion of Butane is small and varies. Does anyone know what the typical mix is?

I have seen it suggested that, if you use lots of LPG in winter, you can be left with nothing but frozen Butane in your cylinders. Has anyone actually experienced that?

I’m guessing that, even in summer, Propane may come off more readily than Butane. If that’s the case, it might be good practice to ensure that you empty your cylinders at least once during the summer to avoid an excessive build-up of Butane.
