German/Austrian Border
i guess like a lot of people we will be travelling across the border. Our original plan was to stay around Berchegarten and daytrip to Salzburg. I know that there were problems at the border last year and wonder if that's still the case. Wonder if Lutz
or any of our German based colleagues could advise current status? Thanks in advance

No idea aboput your request Oneputt but we did this a few years ago and luckily had paid our toll for the Austria bit as we'd come from there to Bad Reichenhall, so don't forget it as the police were stopping all traffic on the motorway to check (imagine
that scenario on the M6)0 -
That was our original plan too. We have decided to travel on to
Viertaller, recommended by Diane T and commute to Salzburg from there. Should be there 28 April for three nights if the weather good. If weather bad we will continue to Croatia and have three nights there on the way back in late May.0 -
Going over the bordear at Saltzburg on 20th April, on way to two months in Croatia. Good website to check on border hold ups is www.bayerinfo.de. At the moment it showed delays West bound only. It is obvious that that is the directions our new "neighbours"
are coming to a town near you!!!!!!!!!0 -
Just looked at that website and it came up with all sorts ofscamming rubish, looks like its been hacked.
AD, the letter 'n' is missing from that web address in the previous post, ie, it should be
http://www.bayerninfo.de/ (the area is Bayern) I think bayer is probably the name of that "millionaire"!!0 -

It's two years since we went Bertchesgarten to Bled and then Croatia so experienced no problems at border - bought vignette from services near the border. One hold up was the Karawankentunnel near the Slovenia border, they only allow so many cars
in the tunnel at a time on a traffic light system so 20 minutes hold up for us.0
