Recommended sites between Amsterdam and Paris

Next year we have decided to avoid Calais and travel from North Shields to Amsterdam, After a couple of nights in Amsterdam we are planning to take a few days via Bruges to get to Melun, nr Paris, Does anyone have recommendations of good sites between Amsterdam
and Bruges, and Bruges and Paris, not too far from the motorways?
