Gas bottles refilled in Europe, easy/difficult?

I'm brand new to caravanning and was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to refill gas bottles in Europe (mainly France, Germany, Holland and Belgium at the moment).  Does it make a difference who we get our bottles from over here or can we buy refill adapters? Any help or hints/tips would be much appreciated.
