Swarm

We got home from a weekend caravanning and found a swarm of Honey bees on our fence.  Neither of us had seen a swarm in real life before.  A quick search on the net got us to the Norfolk beekeepers association and a phone number to ring.  Within 30 minutes
a local beekeeper had been alerted and arrived to collect the swarm.  First he gently swept (with a hand brush) the swarm onto a sheet with an upturned cardboard box on it.  Then he identified the queen bee and put her inside the box.  The rest of the swarm
began to follow her.  Everything was left for a couple of hours.  When he returned the swarm was inside the box.  All he did then was wrap the sheet around it and put it into his car.  Amazing.  We never felt in any danger from the bees as they were on the
move and had no honey or babies to guard.
