Gironde ferry
Has anyone been across the Gironde estuary on the ferry that runs from Royan. Is it ok

Have seen the ferries at Royan many times but didn't cross over. They are modern, perfectly OK, and quite large carrying 150 cars, though there are still queues at busy time in the summer. The fare for car+ caravan + 2 adults is about €55 each way.

Been a few times with our caravan. Great service and perfectly safe. A bit pricey but if you weigh up the drive around, increased fuel and toll costs and the time it sort of evens out maybe costing an extra tenner for the privelege. Save a couple hundred
miles (I think) driving and about 4 hours.0 -
They are a lot different to ones they used to have twenty odd years ago when you drove on from a sloping slipway and parked "across" the deck .

Hi everyone, We're looking to go on the Royan ferry in August. As you've all been may I ask; will our 7 meter caravan be OK? (we have a
6 berth bailey pegasus 546) I think it will, but can't find any more info other than prices for 3 meters under/over. Thanks in advance0 -
There are about 20 videos of this ferry crossing on U.tube showing what it's like though they don't all mention the queues and delays at busy times in August. Have a look.

Here's one I did earlier in July a few years ago – prices may vary to those mentioned -
