There are some Leased sites on the cc and would also think c&cc network that have no hardstandings because of lease restrictions,

the club had a problem when applying for planning permision to put more hardstands on a site in the the Cotswolds

I would be stunned if there could be a planning condition that would require some pitches to be grass.......and in the highly unlikely event that there were, it would be easily challenged.

IanH, I'm pretty sure when this was discussed before there was something (maybe not planning as such) conditions to the lease maybe. However I do remember that the club said that on some sites they have to have some grass pitchesUndecided arn't
there some sites down South that are all grass for this reason.

I don't know about that TG......but equally with a lease, I would be surprised if a lease would contain anything that would reduce the value of the site (and therefore the rental value). The landowner would be doing himself out of income.

I would think that it has more to do with capital cost v. revenue and might be something that an accountant says is best.

Also, on sites open all year, there would be a further revenue loss while the hardstanding work was being undertaken (and the CC seem to do all captal works in the most expensive and time consuming way possible).

But in my view the bullet has to be bitten and they should do what the majority of members want......or is that too idealistic?

I can imagine the Blenheim Estate may object to all hardstanding at Bladon, mind you a warden there once told me they only have a very short lease agreement.

Would a field full of caravans look much different if some were stood on a hardstandings, instead of muddy, carved up grass?

Probably not, although it would cost the land owner more to convert hardstandings back to grass, if they wanted to take the land back .

And as some would say, thats what wardens are there for to sort out the mess left, because some do not know how to drive and its normally not all season, there is normally more problems with inconsiderate use of ground sheets, that should be banned by every
    organisation on grass pitches

Perhaps they should make all grass pitches non awning? Undecided

Although saying that, generally we do prefer grass pitches, much easier to peg out the awning, so may not be such a good idea. SurprisedLaughing

Yes lets turn the sites into concrete / hard standing and completley get rid of grass and therefore no awnings up, no ground sheets and hence no exra charges and no moaning --- lets not worry about covering large areas devoiding them of grass, or better
still lest just all park up in the supermarket car park ... whats that? oh yes get rid of them pesky trees that litter leafs on my roof, and then the birds wont nest and wake me up in the morning ...

Read back through and count the number of motor home owners that want more hard standings and less grass versus the caravanners ... interesting ...

and last of all .... why should prices go up? why not insist they go down if your on a non awning pitch? or better stil find another site or club and stop moaning  --- if your unhappy about the CC and any of its rules then leave .. simples

You would think so, TD, but it's obviously not simples at all. Some are only happy when they've got something to be unhappy about! Wink
