TV in France

Sorry if this is a silly question but we're going on our first trip to France this year.   

We are taking the tv and dvd's in case of very bad weather.  Whilst dvd's not a problem I wondered if we will get tv signal in France without a satellite dish/box.  We don't have SKY etc at home and don't want it in the van, but it would be nice to get some
tv if only for the news etc.   It is a Freeview tv, but just wondered whether it will pick up signal.   Not having been before - haven't a clue.

Am really hoping for great weather though ;-)
