Miseries on sites - why can't they just say hello?

Just been away on the Stamford club site and was amazed at how many people ignore you when you say hello.  Couple in the next van just put heads down and did everything to avoid even looking at us.  The worst ones were those with the newer and posher vans.
 First time we've encountered it but we were glad to get away from the miserable sods
