Rejecting a motorhome not of satisfactory quality
I am sorry if this has been discussed before but we are new this.
We recently purchased a new 2015 motorhome for 60k cash (most of our lives saving) with the intention of enjoying some quality leisure time in our retirement.
Bearing in mind we had only driven it 50 miles, from the dealer to the storage site. Imagine our horror discovering after 3 days of ownership, whilst valenting it, multiple stress cracks in the gel coat in the fibreglass main roof panel. One
is so bad that the gel coat has flaked off exposing the fibreglass underneath. There is also what looks like a bad repair patch & various scratches to the roof rails & roof surface.
We took it back to the dealer, who said it could be repaired & would look like new. Initally we agreed to the repairs, as we were so relieved something could be done, but after reflecting on their proposals & having to chase for information we decided to
reject the vehicle outright, as not of satisfactory quality under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
We are in the position now where the dealer has not responded to recorded delivery letter of rejection & we are considering various options for our next move.
First of all I am wondering if anyone else has found themselves in this position & if so what you did & what was the outcome & secondly has anyone had dealings with the NCC independent resolution service.
i am sorry for rambling on but any advice you can give would be welcome.
