Phantom Flusher?

Has anyone experienced the Thetford flushing itself?  Mine has done it again today - I was walking past the caravan and could hear the whirrr!  Luckily this time there wasn't more water in the flush tank than space in the bowl but I went in and stopped it. 
Later this afternoon I hear it again so disconnected it.  It has had endless parts replaced and still it let's me down!  I would really like to replace it and go back to pumping.  But this looks like a major undertaking.
