Winter or summer clothes?

Off next week for 5 weeks to S of France.......to wherever the sun is shining. I know its early even down there, though one year on the canal du Midi it was 30C in late May......so ladies, what do I pack? Just got out summer stuff, but feel I may leave most
of it behind!  Plus how much do you take? Do you wash every week? Its a dilemma my husband does not face as he seems to wear the same things, except for some shorts, summer and winter!
