How often do you move on when touring?

First time touring in France, after a 26 year break. Husband and I 'discussing' how often we plan to move on. He thinks 3 days is plenty. Putting up new full awning and setting up camp max an hour............

I feel 5 days is a minimum if we bother to set up the awning.We have 5 weeks from Mid April. Do not plan to book ahead, Is that sensible? Have ACSI card and aiming for the Pyrenees area via Roscoff and West coast including Royan.

If anyone can recommend a nice site, especially near Royan, St Jean de Luz and Argeles Glazost that would be very useful.
