Water ingress in floors of motorhomes with
Hi All,
Just had some really bad news from my mobile habitation servicing man.....the moisture content on the underside of the floor in my Ace Capri is up to 70% around the edges so he reckons part of the floor will have to be removed and replaced even though there
is no hint of a problem with the floor from the inside. He only checked underneath because he has found similar problems in other motorhomes with "skirt-trims" round the bottom of the external side walls. It seems to be a particular problem in Swift models
registered in 2005 and 2006 as these have a waterproof membrane included in the floor (since abandoned as a bad idea) which prevents any water which does get in from draining out again!
Dealers never check for damp anywhere except inside and my servicing man has at least one customer with a recently purchased, second hand camper, still under guarantee, with the same problem. He also seems to have a queue of relatively new Bailey caravans
waiting for similar repairs!
Has anyone else out there had this problem?
If you have a similar vintage Swift-made motorhome or another make with "skirts" I suggest you get it checked underneath ASAP particularly after the seriously wet winter we have just had!
