Bastille day traffic

Hi all,

We are currently finalising our plans for this summer's holiday and was wondering if anyone had experience of driving in France on July 14th.  Apart from the fact it is also my birthday I would like to avoid driving if it is going to be particularly busy! 

The question is whether traffic will be worse on the big day or on the days either side, we will be travelling from Angers area to Oleron.  Any advice would be much appreciated.
