Any Computer buffs out there?

I wonder if anyone can help - my son ran over my laptop mouse - (in his wheelchair) Microsoft 8.2.  Now a new mouse and an older one have terrible tremours making it easier to use the built in pad - but not easier enough for me to want to abandon hope of
a mouse working again!  Any ideas would be much appreciated.  I have tried it in all the USB ports and all seem the same.  Playing backgammon is a real pain!
