Awning sides/front on or off when taking down

Just watched an Isabella video of taking down an awning. They left the sides/fronts zipped on when they dropped it and folded it. We have always taken the front and side panels off before doing this and folded them separately to make the main canvas lighter
and easier to handle.

The question is, what do you do? are we wasting time and effort zipping them on and off.
