Water heater overflow

I have a Compass Avantegarde 400rl motorhome and was out for first time this season and when I put water into my system and turned on the pump to run taps the water from my tank was drained out of the overflow from the water heater?? even when I turned
the taps and pump off the water continued to empty the reservoir. Any one got any ideas why?
