Awning and Non Awning Pitches
Where a CC main site currently has some pitches which are suitable for awning use, and some which aren't, the booking screen on the website treats these separately, so you can book one or the other. On arrival at Cherry Hinton a few days ago (midweek) I
found that I had been allocated a pitch as a) I had booked an awning pitch and b) I have a small (short) caravan. I had booked an awning pitch as there are some (IMO) grotty non awning pitches on the site - can't understand why these were not enlarged when
the site was refurbished a few years ago - and I didn't want to end up with one of those, even though I did not want to erect an awning! The pitch I was assigned was right at the bottom of the pit (CH is a former lime quarry) so this time of the year there
was a distinct lack of sunshine penetrating , and I really feel uneasy with tall thin trees overhanging the pitch, and a cliff face (100 feet tall?). But there were some (IMO) non-grotty designated non-awning pitches available. I was told I could not take
one of these, as I had booked an awning pitch!
Excuse me if I'm being thick, but although a non-awning pitch is no good to someone who is going to erect an awning on their caravan, an awning pitch is ok for everyone - both those who will use an awning, and those who won't!
I have no idea how this could be reflected in the booking system... perhaps for future improvements to sites the CC hierarchy could enlarge all so-called non-awning pitches so that all pitches are standard size and suitable for anyone. What do you think?
