Could a person with experience please give me an idea of what it would cost to take a car,caravan,two people and two dogs,to the south of France or Southern Portugal  using the Chunnel.

reason for this is that I'm thinking of going abroad but, I'm not sure which would be the best as far as costs are concerned. Thinking of renting a hol home or, is it cheaper to take the van. The aim is to go abroad next winter,about November, and stay for as long as possible. 

Help with this would be appreciated. If we rent I will be taking the car, but I will not be staying more than a month.
