1 week stop over in France En route to Italy
We are headed to Italy (Lake Como) in August and travelling via. Mont Blanc tunnel.
Looking for ideas for a weeks stop over between the tunnel @ Coquelles and the one under Mont Blanc.
We have predominantly done other parts of France in the past so are not particularly familiar with that side of France.
Any thoughts on area including site recommendations.
Cheers.

I would spend a day or two in Troyes or Dijon because they are both cities I like, and the rest of the time in the Chamonix valley - riding the cable cars, walking in the foothills, wishing I was young again, and eating tartiflette in Alpine chalets.
But if the weather there was bad, as it often can be, I would go straight through the tunnel to Courmayeur, where the weather is always better, do the same sort of things over that side and explore parts of the Gran Paradiso National Park.
Enjoy your holiday.

The area around Neydens is good, camping colombier is a decent site, handy for Geneva.
The last time we went through the Mont Blonc tunnel the weather was miserable on the French side grey skies and wet, came out of the tunnel on Italian side to blue sky and sunshine, such a change.

I'd second that. We like La Colombiere and will be staying there on our return visit to Italy this year. Good for visiting Geneva, Mt Soleve and even Annecy (if you can get parked!). There are some photos of what we did in the story I put on here in 2014.
If I can find the link I'll post it up when I've searched.David

We have not stayed there but a colleague often mentioned Neydens as a place with a lot of variety on the doorstep.
