For those of you who are fans of this software for planning trips acroos the UK and Europe, Microsoft have announced the retirement of this product. It will be downloadable from their site until the end of December this year with support until July 2015. Details here
I have been using Autoroute from before it was a Microsoft product. My main use is the initial planning of a holiday to check total distances. I an pretty sure the decision has come about because of all the alternative mapping software around these days some of which is free.
