Eurotunnel expensive

We'd much prefer to use the Tunnel for holidays rather than the ferry, but isn't it expensive with a caravan??
Just checked for next May - cheapest return crossing is about £250 (even going early / late in the day) whereas we paid about £130 for a ferry last year.
I know you can use Tesco vouchers (but we must live in the only part of the country with no Tesco near us) but is there any way to get cheaper Tunnel crossings?
Is it that they don't really want caravans?
