Caravan MOT's. Think I have sussed it!
I had a brainwave thought today about this. All over the country, there is a new system being roled out soon called WIM's. WIM stands for Weigh in motion. They are clever pads in the road that weigh a lorry (for now) as they go over. Above on a bridge is
an ANPR camera that reads the lorry number plate, knows its max load and axle loads and if over the weight, a policeman or VOSA officer pulls the vehicle over, onto a weigh bridge and throws a few books around and makes the lorry driver lighter in the pocket!
Now, my thinking is, the government know most caravans are over weight and builders (who normally have trailers over 2 tonnes) also have thier trailer over weight. This area hasnt been enforced much and if say 90% of caravans on the road are over weight, thats
a nice little gold mine for the government!
SO, call it MOT's for caravans, make all caravans have a registration plate at the front, say, above the windows. The MOT is a cover up for the ANPR cameras to read the plate, know the axle load, and hey presto, pull you over and book you.
Do you reckon I'm onto something? Is this the REAL plan?
