Sat Nav and Tolls

We have a TomTom sat nav (Start 60) and it asks whether I want to avoid tolls when setting a route.

I assume this would find toll free routes in France?

If I say yes avoid tolls, what happens when there is an unavoidable toll e.g. a toll bridge?
