The annoying use of the word 'So' to start every sentence these days is well documented. I think it has replaced saying 'Errrrrr' as an attempt to sound more forceful. Rather like Tony Bliar starting every statement with 'Look.....'
But the annoying carry-over from America habit of saying, for example, 'Can I get a Big Mac?' is almost as annoying.
If I were serving them, I would feel compelled to reply 'It's alright, I'll get one for you'.
