Caravan club reps?
Hello,
My husband and i are new to caravanning and are looking at booking a holiday at domaine des ormes for next year (peak time) due to the kids coming with us.
My question is are there CC reps at resorts? I have looked around alot at reviews and everyone seems to be talking about booking through key camp or canvas and how good the reps are etc. If i dont book through these people (key camp or canvas) and book through
the CC site then will we be cast out on our own on arrival? with no rep to go to if we need any questions answered or info etc? I know there will be staff on site but if we have no rep then will it be more difficult to book activities etc?
Thanks in advance
Sarah

There are no club reps on club sites but we have always found the site staff speak English and can answer anything you need to know so have never needed them.
You can save money and get a steward if you use rallies though if there is one that suits you.

The site is in brittany and not a caravan club site- i am wondering whther to book it through canvas instead of the cc.

Can't you book direct on their web site - and cut out the middle man/woman!

Write your comments here...I suppose we could yes but I have never booked direct with a hotel, site before as always done package holidays etc before buying the caravan. I guess it may be the cheaper option but if anything goes wrong woth the booking I dont
know if we would be covered.0 -

Where the Club offer a booking service for sites abroad it is just that. Some members feel more comfortable having all their sites booked in advance and that is the reason the club offer this service. The other organisations you mention tend to have lots
of things organised for children and in English. The sites themself also offer clubs for children but this is more likely be mainly in French. Years ago when our kids were young ours used the get involved with the Eurocamp organised events, no one seemed to
know they weren't Eurocamp customers!!!David

I thought that Key camp etc just provided pre erected tents or chalets. I don't think that they are a booking service for you to use your own caravan but I could be wrong. In any case you will find that the site receptionist will be very helpful in advising
you on where to go and what you can book for on site. Don't worry about being on your own you will have a great time.0 -
Thanks for the advice . I guess what I am worried about is if I don't book through canvas/euro camp does this mean my kids will be excluded from the kids club if they wish to join in a couple of days ? Sorry for all the questions . I have looked at the reviews
and everyone is saying how good the kids clubs are but again they have booked direct with euro/key camp or canvas . I may give them a call direct and see what they say but then of course I will be roped into booking and it may be more expensive ha!0 -
Ive emailed both canvas and the site direct now. thanks for your help .

Hi, hope that the responses are of help to you. We have over the years been to many sites with children, and now Grandchildren, but hardly ever use the provided 'clubs' as in the main we were usualy doing other things as a family. So far as the booking,if
the site is bookable through the club then you could get an ITX fare, where you book a ferry and site, and the discounts on BF from Plymouth to Roscoff can be substantial. Probably not so great in August but worth considering. As for the first trip abroad with the van we well remember ours, how nervous we felt before the off and then how we wondered what we had been worried about, so it is quite natural to find that things that concerned you during the planning, reps and activities
etc, are not an issue and, indeed, never given a thought once on site.We did consider this site, for a holiday with family, who are campers, next year,as it has good reviews and what appears to be a great 'water park' but have decided to go further South.

Eurocamp independent will book you a holiday there, where you take your own caravan, but the children can use the Kids Clubs organised by Eurocamp themselves.
There are plenty of activities going on, though, for all nationalities. My son and his friend loved it there when they were pre-teenagers.
Sorry obviously posting at the same time as LesandAng.

Thanks to you all . I have contacted the site direct who assured me that if I book through CC then we can use their kids club on site . I have looked at euro camp but the reps have really bad reviews .
obviously we won't be putting the kids in kids club for two weeks but just wanted it as an option so our older one (8yrs) can make lots of friends etc. I think we will book through the caravan club and use the provided kids club over there (if atall) as
there seems to be so much to do on site and in the area.0 -
I don't think that they will have any trouble making friends on site. Ours never did. All the children are in the same boat in that they have no friends with them so they start talking to complete strangers. Our daughter was really shy but within a couple
of days she was off with one or two others having a great time and then not wanting to go out with us as she would have to leave them.0 -
Many years ago, our kids made friends on site with other children of other nationalities, and amazingly the different languages made no issues at all. By the end of the holiday they had picked up a smattering of key words. For us this was one of the main highlights of our trips.

Check out the prices of sites before you book.
When we went down to Provence last year we booked a site through the Club and it was much cheaper than booking directly!
The opposite might be true now with the recent big fall in the value of sterling? Once saved over £50 by booking two sites in Italy in similar circumstances.
