weighbridge certificates

We are complete newbies and have excitedly bought our first motorhome from a dealership.
I have read in a magazine that you should request a weighbridge certificate to show the actual weight at the time of purchase but the dealership know nothing about this. Can anyone help as to whether we need this or not.
