Putting things into context regarding the NHS

Back in the 80/90s myself and my colleague, Colin P, were called to someone who had a cardiac arrest one morning at a local golf course.

The club didn't want us driving over their greens so we had to park on the roadside. We did work on him and there was another of our colleagues off duty playing golf working on the patient when we finally got to the green. It was to no avail so we then had to get the patient back to the ambulance by scrambling over the hedge and ditch.

I've just been reading an article in our local paper where a person collapsed on the same golf course from a cardiac arrest. In attendance was a fast response vehicle, two paramedic ambulances and the West Mids helicopter.

Is it any wonder the NHS is in dire straits and that I had to finish early with back problems? Sadly both incidents had the same result.
