Taking the Dogs Abroad

Hi, although we have been going to France for many years we have never taken our dogs across, choosing to leave them at home with our daughter or putting them in kennels.

How practical is it to take your pets abroad now? On the ferries or eurotunnel? What, if any, restrictions are there on them when you travel across the water? What costs are involved?

I have been pleasantly surprised at how dog friendly places in Britain are becoming, is France generally dog friendly?
