Pull out shower - replacing the hose

We run an Autotrail Excel 600S and the outer casing of the shower hose has parted company from the tap (a Comet mixer). It appears that in order to replace the hose I am going to have to remove the washbasin containing the tap. This sits on the plastic pedestal
built into the wall of the shower cubicle. I have remove the top fixing screws and broken the seal around the top edge. There are no other obvious fastenings but the basin refuses to budge, I am loathe to use too much pressure at this stage as both basin and
pedestal are very flimsy.

Are there any members who could confirm that my approach is correct and that there is no easier alternative I have missed ?

Pull out showers appear to have a tendency to develop a kink at the end of the hose if it is fully extended too often so possibly other members have experienced similar problems.

Any advice would be most welcome

Many thanks - Kingsclere..
