I was going to post this to the 'more bite the dust' thread, but I think that thread has now drifted off the topic of 'why are CL's closing' and moved onto 'what is a sensible price for a CL', but it was an interesting chat!

For some months now, Claire and I have been chewing over the idea of a system whereby any CC member can register their email address with us, and we will send out periodic emails highlighting periods where we have vacancies for pitches at short notice, which
we could offer at a discounted price.

If we have a pitch cancelled at the weekend, we often find that it is cancelled with just a few days to go, and we don't stand any chance of replacing the customer, and this may be after turning others away for the busy spring and autumn weekends. We do
take a deposit, and we understand that circumstances mean that people do have to cancel - it just leaves a pitch that someone could have used if only we could let you all know!

We do appreciate that money is tight for everyone, especially for  those who may be caravanning on a pension, as has been commented on several threads already. The escalating costs of fuel alone may make weekends away an expensive activity.

Whilst not wishing to generalise, members who are pensioners may have more flexibility to take a short-notice trip, and may appreciate a discount, so I wonder if a periodic email bulletin for a discounted stay may be helpful?

Any thoughts?
