Just a heads uo if anyone is travelling from France via Metz to Germany the A6 is closed near the border at Saarbrucken. There is a diversion in place but on a week day it might be slow going if the waggons are using the route.

Just also to add if anyone is entering Germany via this route there appears to be no checks at the old border.

David do you know if it's a long term closure as some motorway works are, we don't travel until early July but may use this route then, I will check closer to our departure date in any case.

The information that I have from the Saarland autobahn administration dated 09.05.2016 says that the closure has been lifted, but in the direction from Saarbrücken to Metz the autobahn is restricted until the end of July to one lane.

Thanks for the update. We came through yesterday and it was still closed.  There were signs on the overheads all the way through France suggesting lorries use a different route.
