Maybe a Campsite to be Avoided

Having stayed at in the region of 200 campsites in Europe over the years there will always be campsites that you like better than others. It was not until today that I had what can only be described as an unpleasent experience on arrival and booking in.
Today we drove from Illiers-Combray to Dieppe and as we had some Camping Cheques still on our Silver Card we decided to try Camping La Source at Hautot sur Mer. I tend to take comments in the CC European Guide re access with a pinch of salt but in this case
hey were spot on. Anyone with a family sized caravan would have difficulty as the approach is extremely tight. However that was not the real issue. It was really the attitude of the site owner that took the biscuit almost to the point of being aggressive.
First of all he was not keen on us having a quick look round before booking in. We were only given the choice of some very rough motorhome pitches with two runs of uneven paving for the wheels. He then changed the pitch he had originally offered us. When I
got to the pitch I wanted to reverse on but he insisted I go in nose first. At no point did I feel that as a customer I was being offered any kind of service, if anything the opposite was the case. We decided to leave which he seemed quite happy with!  We
found another site in the ASCI book about a mile away called Camping le Marqueval where the contrast could not have been greater. Pleasent reception and lovely well kept pitches.
