Perhaps one needs to have 'cookies type disclaimer' - Appearing on this dashcam will be assumed as consent unless notified to the owner of the vehicle in writing.

So, in a hypothetical scenario where you are using a dashcam and someone crashes into you, it's clearly their fault and it's all clearly recorded on the dashcam, does that have any value at all Lutz ?
Would the police use it in any way ? What about the insurance company ?
To answer your question, if any other vehicle or any other person other than the third party that caused the accident that you were involved in, is identifiable in the footage, you would be committing an offence of contravening German data privacy laws if you pass such recordings on to your insurance company or the police. You can only really use the footage to jog your own memory.
