Quieter sites - western France in august.........
This is our third season of caravanning and my husband and I are ready to try the delights of Western France..... Our first trip outside the UK. It will be just the two of us and we would prefer quieter sites (we haeven had our fair share of big family sites
when we travel with our teenage boys!!)
we have 14 nights available in France (probably doing Portsmouth to Caen). A few questions:
1. Recommended sites on the Atlantic/western coast?
2. How often do you guys move on?..... It only takes us an hour to hitch/unhitched and set up/down, so we are thinking a maximum of 3-4 nights in each area - or do you find it better to keep the van in one place and drive further to visit nearby locations?
3. As its August how essential is it to pre-book? We have a twin axle van and no movers, (husband is confident and competent at manoeuvrin the van) but I'm worried we will find sites turn us away with no space? If you pre-book, do you find the CC site the
best to use?
4. A few sites online say "no twin axles" why?..... Are we going to have trouble finding sites?
5. Is there a prepay method for toll roads? Is there a way to establish where the toll roads are?
6. Recommend sites near Caen as we will be getting the 08:30 ferry coming back, and lots of sites seem to say no early departures......
7. Any other advice welcome!!
thanks in advance
