Is the end of the Status Aerial?!

We are about to take deleivery of a 2014 Coachman 'van. When looking over an identical van in the dealers' compund,I couldn't see the familiar Status aerial, and was told that the 'van is fitted with the latest 'high gain, omnidirectional aerial'. This looks
like a car radio aerial with wire wrapped around the outside and sticks up about 6" on top of the roof. Does anyone have any experience of these as it sounds too good to be true, and being cynical by nature, I wonder if it is!! Not having to lift up the aerial
and rotate it round to find the strongest signal seems just too easy!!
