We have a 2015 Sterling Eccles Quartz caravan with black decals next to the front upper window. The caravan has been coated with Diamondbrite. The caravan has been cleaned with a mild solution of Wash & Wax car wash.

Swift advise in the handbook the use of a mild detergent to clean the caravan

The black decals have now started to discolour.

Swift have declined a claim under warranty claiming a substance has been used

Has anyone any experience of problems with the black decals discolouring and if so how was it resolved?

Have you asked Swift to define the mild detergent with a breakdown of ingredents so you can compare it with your car shampoo. Which car shampoo did you use,  I use Fenwicks caravan shampoo but I have used Carplan triple wax before with no side effects.
It would be intresting to know how they can define "a substance" Have you contacted Diamondbrite for their comments

had the same trouble with my conqueror , what worked for me was to polish it with autoglym car polish  which brought it back then put some mer bumper gel on it , looked better than new , yes it will keep fading but not for a long time , has far has these paint sealers you pay hundreds of pounds for there are a waste of time and are only has good has the person applying it , i used to valet vehicles ,just treat it like your car and give it a good old polish & wax, my elegance has the same black type of decals on the bottom of the rear and front panel i have just done these the same this week , the decals on the sides also tend to fade over time again polish will bring them back as well, give it a go you will be surprised , polish has a small amount of a cutting product in it but nothing to worry about where has a wax is basically a protector

    hope this helps

the Caravanbrite coating seems to prevent anything getting to the decals. can you suggest anything to remove the coating so I can apply mer/autogym?

Haven't contact Swift yet to see what the define as a suitable detergent to clean the caravan. They blamed the detergent then the coating

used Wash & Wax made by Tetrosyl. They are currently testing the remails of the container. However Tyneside Leisure use the same product for cleaning their caravans.

Diamondbrite who make the Caravanbrite have denied that it could be their product to blame

problem seems to be under the coating of the Caravanbrite but on top of the decals - possibly mold or something. The coating seems to be stopping anything actually getting to the decals

try the autoglym polish has it has a slight cutting effect to restore the paint no way nearer as abrassive has t cut etc , or could be caused by the paint protector you had put on if they done a hash job of it , they offered myself supaguard for my cars
i said no has it is only any good if it is applied correctly and if you dont wax your vehicle otherwise it is a waste of time having it , it will never beat regualy waxing im afraid to say

    Hi,

Autoglym polish has made a slight difference, with brown coming off the decal.

Have been unable to get the Mer bumper gel either at out local car accessory shop or online (even on the Mer web site it is not shown). Do you know anywhere I could get some from?

If you let me have your email address I will send you photos of the decals so that you can see the problem
