Insist on towbar wiring check!!
Ok so I will try again (it will now not allow me to edit other post)
Purchased our new van in Feb, 6 berth twin wheeler, borrowed a large van, collected, put on drive and started our search for the perfect towcar.
Found said vehicle, Hyundai IX35, at a Hyundai dealer at a good price with a towbar fitted, reviews were good. Collected this vehicle last Thursday and we go away Thursday coming.
Thought I would couple two together today (Saturday) and make sure all was ok for Thursday.
Everytime I turned side lights on the car, it would trip the n/s/r light on the car and no side lights on the caravan.
Cutting a long story short, and after quite lengthy troubleshooting, all pointed to tow bar on car, using power probe all still looked ok until I took out back lights (please see picture), the towbar fitter had not only made a complete hash of the job in
hand but had also wired both side light lives in the tow bar to the n/s/r tail light, this was overloading the cars system and causing the problem. I traced a wire to the other side and rectified the problem but the dealer has agreed (after seeing the pictures)
to have the car back and put it all right.
I dont blame the dealer as they would never have fitted electrics like this, but they are going to put it all right as its a bit of a hazard.
What you guys think??
